“Sometimes, Colombia feels like a jail.” — one of my students, with a pretty accurate description of the incredible difficulty Colombians face in applying for a visa to study, work or even just visit the U.S. Can someone back home just sponsor these kids already?
Was it the anarchist?
Surprisingly, no! Although it’s totally something he would say. One of my other darling 11th-graders.
I’m a little curious about anarchist students in Bogota, could you explain what you mean, I don’t recall my schooldays being so politically charged.
Don’t worry, Bogotá hasn’t turned into a tumultuous barrel of crazies. He’s really just a socialist — “my little anarchist” is just my diminutive nickname for him, to distinguish him from all my other darling socialist students. He likes cats far too much to be an actual anarchist.
